- Climate Action Fund – Repair Café in a boxWe are delighted to announce that we have received a grant for a new programme called “Repair Café in a box”. The funding comes from the Community Climate Action Programme under the Government’s Climate Action Fund. https://www.dublincity.ie/news/eu19m-awarded-51-community-groups-dublin-city 51 groups in Dublin City were awarded over €1.9m and will benefit sports clubs, resident associations, community centres, community gardens, religious institutions, and others. - WeRepair DocumentaryYou might remember a while ago we wrote about our own Jeffrey Roe taking part in a maker-in residency program to Buinho, a fablab in rural Portugal. - A Toy Repair to Save ChristmasA member of the public contacted us about a toy repair. Unfortunately, they could not make it to one of our Repair Cafes. We don’t normally take on repairs outside of our events but this one tugged at our heartstrings. This bear has huge sentimental value to the owner and their wish was to pass it on to her niece allowing the next generation to enjoy it. - Repair Cafe – Vanmoof S3 Dead BatteryAt one of our Repair Cafes, we had an electrical bicycle that would not turn on because it had been sitting idle for three months and would not charge. Vanmoof has no repair options since they have gone bankrupt over the last few months and not supplying any spare parts. With nothing to lose, we started to take the bicycle apart to find out what it’s made of and if it’s serviceable.
