Museums and Makers Inspiring Each Other

On Tuesday 6th March 6 – 8pm, we are teaming with the Chester Beatty Library, to put on a night that gives makers and museums people a chance to learn from each other. The night in the library, will be filled with a mix of makers from the local community and people from the arts, sciences and cultural sectors. We will be looking at how museums can provide inspiration for creativity and finding ways local maker communities can be embed in the museum’s public programmes.

This event is facilitated by Don Undeen of BoomHiFive, Georgetown University Maker Hub, and Jenny Siung, Head of Education, Chester Beatty Library, and our own Jeffrey Roe. This event is part of the Making Museum project, an 18-month EU-funded training initiative (Erasmus+ 20172019) exploring how museum staff can up-skill in creativity, innovation, creative collaborations with local maker communities, and embed these ideas in their public programmes for audiences.

February Open Social

It’s TOG Open Social time again. We’ll be open this Saturday 17th February from 7PM, to hang out, chill out and generally take it easy. Weather permitting, we might even fire up our pizza oven outside.

If you’ve never been to one of our events, you’ll find it a great alternative Saturday evening in town. Come in and look around. If you’ve never been in before, we’ll give you the grand tour of the space. Talk to members and visitors about projects or things you’d like to do. If you like what you see, ask about joining as a full member.

The space stays open until the last member is left……usually the small hours of Sunday morning. The evening is free to attend for members and visitors alike. No need to book…. just turn up. You can drop in for 10 minutes, or stay the whole night. We have parking available. Bring beer, food, gadgets! Our doors are open from 7PM. Hope to see you there.

Pizza Oven 3.0

Check out some pics of the latest rev of our pizza oven, which had it’s first run on Saturday at our Birthday party.

When we built our first pizza oven in Chancery Lane, it became a regular feature of our Open Socials and other events. Having our own dedicated yard in Chancery Lane, meant that we could build a permanent one outside.

Blackpitts is an amazing space for us, but we do not have our own dedicated yard. We have a shared car park. We’ve built the oven temporarily on special occasions, but we have to take it down the next day. It’s always been the plan to make a mobile one that we could push out as-required.

Over the last few months we built that mobile version and it had its first successful run on Saturday at our party. Drop in to our regular open socials to see it in operation.
