We’re exhibiting at #SoCircular on the 5th of October, an event to celebrate Dublin’s #social and #circular economy ecosystem and culture. Come down and check out our stall! We want to meet people and tell them about community repair and running Repair Cafés.

SoCircular is an event to celebrate Dublin’s social and circular economy ecosystem and culture. It will:

• Highlight supports, resources and support organisations that can help business become more sustainable
• Feature 4 panel discussions on key social / circular economy themes as part of a summit
• Showcase 50 local social enterprises and circular enterprises and their products and services in an extensive trade expo
• Provide networking opportunities during the networking reception and expo
• Celebrate through social and circular themed arts and cultural performances

The event aims to help transform Dublin by: highlighting and celebrating the social and circular economy ecosystem and associated culture, encouraging people, businesses, organisations and government departments to buy from and support local social and circular enterprises, promoting supports to help enterprises adopt circular / sustainability approaches, and through providing a forum for conversation, insights and ideas on developing a SoCircular Dublin.

We are kicking off a new public group night in Tog. Maker Night.

Do you like to make things? Would you like to use 3D software, lasercutter and 3D printing to help you make your idea?

TOG has an open evening to learn how CAD software and 3D fabrication tools can help you make your project.

All you need to take part is your own laptop and some ideas on what you want to make.

This is not a taught class, more like an informal working group of self-directed makers.

We will be happy to help you explore how to use our 3D tools in designing and making your project whether you are a crafter, designer, engineer or hobbyist.

Come and have a look at the tools in our space and get some ideas on how your project can be made.

We will kick off tonight from 7 pm and then every second Wednesday going forward.

We are hosting an electronic “Build-It” workshop in TOG on Saturday 15th October from 16:00 – 19:00. Many visitors to TOG tell us that they would like to get started with electronics, soldering or assembly, but they are unsure how to do so. This workshop will help. You get to build (and keep) an electronic kit.

The kit that we have chosen is a line-follower robot car. It will follow a black line or any line where there is reasonable contrast. You can see a video of the kit in action, from our previous workshop below.

The kit comes as a complete set of mechanical and electronic parts including a bare circuit board. You do all the electronic assembly and soldering as well as the mechanical assembly. If you’ve never built an electronics kit or soldered it before, then this workshop is ideal for you. We’ll show you everything that you need to know. No previous experience in electronics, soldering or kit assembly is needed.

We’ll explain the circuit and how it works too. All tools and equipment are provided. The workshop will take up to 3 hours, which is plenty of time. All proceeds from this event go to support TOG. We have 7 places available.
