Electronic “Build-It” Workshop

*** just 2 places left ***

Join us at TOG for an afternoon electronic “build-it” workshop. This is a quick introduction to electronics. Participants get to build and take home a small electronic kit, which we’ve chosen as a good basic introductory kit. The workshop is suitable for beginners to electronics. If you’ve never built an electronics kit or soldered before, then this workshop is ideal for you. We’ll show you everything that you need to know.

We like this particular kit very much, and we think that it will provide you with great fun and mischief. To make it a bit more interesting, we’d prefer not to tell you what the kit is, but if you really want to know, contact us or sign up and we’ll tell you…. only if you promise to keep it to yourself!

In addition to building the kit, we’ll explain how the circuit works and you can test it with various electronic test equipment that we have at TOG. We’ll show you how to do that too.

The cost of this workshop is 30 euro and you can pay on the day. The workshop takes place at TOG on the afternoon of Saturday 5th November at 3PM. We should be finished by 5:30PM. You can sign up using the form below. That same evening we hold our regular open social event. You’re welcome to stick around for that, meet the other TOG’gers and visitors. As usual with our open socials, hang out, bring beer, food, gadgets etc!

Open Social with Tunes

This weekends Open Social will have a bit of a twist. There will be some live music to go along with the usually good mix of food, drinks and chat.

The social will kick off at 7pm this Saturday the 2nd of July until late. Feel  free to bring your own beer and food along.  It’s a great chance to visit the space and see what we are all about. This event is free and open to the public.

Dan a member of Tog will be giving an update on the great work being done at  Cloughjordan, a new eco village, located in Tipperary.

Cloughjordan is a new concept in living. With Fibre Optic Internet to
every home, communal heating system, low energy concept housing, and a hackers dream, a fab-lab with laser cutter and a shop bot robotic machine. The fab-lab is still in construction with the foundations laid. Dan visited the village as part of the food festival and will explain how the village works and how they need help from hackers to get the best of technology to drive the economy.

After the talk we will have a set from Ewan from Boy Scout Audio http://boyscoutaudio.com/.  Restricted to a mere 16 notes per pattern and 16 patterns per track, he squeezes the last drops of musical juice from a Nintendo DS, battering the synthesised daylights out of the bare-bones Korg DS-10 software that is the sole sound of his music. Csixtyforce and Zyme from Gamepak have also been added to the line up. Bring on the chip tunes.

Social Night Saturday May 7th

Come one come all:
We will be have a social night next Saturday 7th of May starting around 6pm if weather is night BBQ is on the cards. If weather is nice might start bit earlier but keep an eye out for what we are up to on website or get involved during the week.

Saturday April 2nd

We’ve got some activities tomorrow Saturday April 2nd in TOG that you might like to attend.

The first is the Ubuntu Global Jam from 10am to 6pm.

Ubuntu Global Jam is a great event for many reasons. It is both social
and fun with many face to face meetups around the globe where people
work and play on an extraordinarily wide variety of ubuntu related
topics. People will work on bugs (both reporting and fixing), testing
the latest Natty release, documentation, advocacy material and many
other things lots of which probably haven’t even been considered as of
yet.

The second is our regular Saturday Open Social Night from 7pm to late. Come and hangout with Dublin’s hackers and makers for a chat or to show off your latest project. Our tuck shop has been restocked, we’re now stocking Club-Mate original the ultimate hacker drink.

Paddy’s Day Hackathon

Looking for an alternative way to spend St. Patrick’s day.? Let your creative side out and come along to our special Paddy’s Day hackathon. Why not add a little bit of green to your projects, a shamrock, a green LED or even a pint of the black stuff.

The hackathon will take place in our space on Thursday 17th of March, with our space open from about 11:00 to late in the evening. In the evening we’ll be having our regular Open Social Night.

Don’t have a project, why not signup for our Shamrock Soldering Workshop.
